Luxor City Tour - Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple and Karnak Sound and Light Show
You will be picked up from your hotel by your designated driver who will take you to the east bank of Luxor where you will be met by your Tour Guide.
On arriving in Luxor, you will visit Karnak Temple which is situated on the East Bank of the River Nile.
Karnak Temple is over 2000 yrs old and was previously known as Ipet sut ( “The most sacred of places”) and is dedicated to the Theban triad Am Mut and Khonsu comprising of temples, chapels, kiosks pylons and obleisks. it is one of the largest temples to have been built in Egypt (Your Tour Guide will explain in-depth about the history of the temple)
You will be taken to a restaurant on the Nile for lunch to experience fine Egyptian Cuisine.
After lunch you will be taken to a 5* Hotel to check-in. You will also be able to freshen up and relax.
In the evening you will be picked up by your driver and tour guide to visit the following:
Luxor Temple
This is a magnificent building that was built in dedication to the rejuvenation to kingship. It is believed that many a kings was crowned and coronations were held in this magnificent open air temple
Your Tour Guide will explain to you in-depth all about the wonderful history of the temples.
After your visit to Luxor Temple, you will be taken to Karnak Temple for the Sound and Light show.
The Sound and Light Show highlights the dramatic history of ancient Thebes. The show narrates the achievements of some great Pharaohs, with poetic descriptions of the ancient treasures. As visitors walk through the complex, the pharaohs arise to tell the story of their interesting lives, as haunting music mysteriously flows through this ancient city. Ancient and poetic voices tell the visitors about the birth of Karnak temple and the heroic achievements of the pharaohs and the god Amun. It is an enchanting and supernatural experience to listen to sound effects and gaze at the magnificent ruins illuminated during the well-presented show.
After the show, you will be taken back to your hotel for dinner.
Optional activity – After Dinner you will be given the chance to visit Luxor City Centre and the Market or you can relax at the hotel. Your Tour Guide will discuss this optional activity further.
Day 2
Valley of the Kings, Hatsheput Temple and Colossi Memmon (El Colossat or Es- Salamat)
Optional Activity – Early Morning Hot Air Balloon Ride – Experience floating high in the Sky, watching the magnificent sunrise. Have a birds eye view of Luxor, the surrounding desert, the wonderous temples and the Nile.
(Breakfast box will be provided) . Please speak to your Tour Guide if you would like to do this activity.
After breakfast you will check out from your room by 8am (You will be able to leave your luggage with Reception)
You will be meet by your driver and tour guide who will drive you to the West Bank of the Nile to visit the following sites:
Valley of the Kings is located on the West Bank of Luxor and is the ancient burial site of the Pharaoh’s.
Here you will be able to visit three tombs (this will be dependent on which tombs are available to view on the day). You will also have the option to visit the well-known tomb of Tutankhamun (which was discovered by Howard Carter in 1922) where he was buried, however his remains are now situated at the ,Cairo Museum (Please discuss further with your tour guide if you wish to visit).
After visiting The Valley of the Kings you will be taken to Hatshepsut Temple – Djeser Djeseru (Holy of Holiest)
Hatshepsut was known as the second female Pharaoh in Egypt and was the wife of Thutmose II and was part of the 18th Dynasty in Egypt. Hatshepsut ruled from 1479 – 1458 BC.
Hatshepsut was known for establishing trade networks and embarking on a prolific programme of building, including her amazing temple.
You will then be taken by car / Mini bus to visit the statue of Colossi Memnon
These amazing statues are of Amenhotep III. Carved into the stones alongside him are his wife Tiye and his mother Mutemwiya and the side panels depict the Nile God Hapi.
After your tour, you will be taken to an Egyptian restaurant for lunch.
You will be taken back to the hotel to collect your luggage. You will leave from the hotel and travel back to your hotel in Marsa Alam
